Thought to date back around 500 years, The Swan Inn at Birlingham is owned by the Russon and Haines family – well known in the area after running a number of local pubs and restaurants in and around Stratford-on-Avon.
Daughter, Zoe Haines, said the family brought the pub with big plans in mind and ever since they set their eyes on the property they were determined to take on the project and preserve it's traditional country character in the beautiful village surroundings.
Zoe said: “We have been gradually giving the building a make-over, moving the bar and creating a light and airy contemporary interior, refurbishing the conservatory as well as updating the gardens and restoring the property to what it should be - a 'picture postcard' traditional black and white thatched inn.”
The Russon family have operated many pubs in the area including the Howard Arms in Illmington, the Ferry Inn in Alveston and Russons fish restaurant in Stratford, but it is the first time Zoe and husband Will have taken over.
Zoe and Will are excited by the prospect of having the entire family lending a hand and have had wonderful comments on the progress, the beautiful food and well kept local ales.
So, do come and take a look for yourselves and we hope you enjoy your experience at The Swan Inn.
